In June 2022, the ship was sailing along the Alaskan coast when it collided with an iceberg off the Hubbard Glacier. Thankfully, the collision did not cause any substantial damage. The ship shortened that particular itinerary and then, once the ship was docked, it underwent two weeks of repairs before resuming service. Splash Academy is the place for the smallest cruisers to go, with activities planned for children ages 3 to 12 (children are divided into three groups depending on age). In addition to the two main pools, there’s also a kids pool on Deck 12 that’s designed with toddler-age kids in mind.
Balcony (BT)

A great way for the whole family to cruise, these staterooms can accommodate up to five guests. They include two lower beds that convert into a queen-size bed, a pull down bed and a convertible sofa.
Oceanview (OB)
The musicians in each of the venues with a rare exception were very good and enjoyable to listen to. The stage shows were a bit strange but entertaining enough to give passengers something to do. Many passengers didn’t realize there were food options outside in this area since the food was tucked away behind the bar! The Norwegian Sun is one of the oldest cruise ships in NCL’s fleet dating back to 2001. With several refits over the years, the ship, while old by industry standards, is extremely well-maintained and modernized in all the ways you’d expect. Unfortunately, it’s not a ship for everyone and we’ll explain why.
Seven Seas Restaurant
Norwegian Sun is a Sun class cruise ship operated by Norwegian Cruise Line. She entered service in 2001 in a dual christening ceremony at the Port of Miami with Norwegian Star. She was constructed at the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany. A teen space is offered in the Entourage teen center, for cruisers ages 13 to 17. The center offers lots of programming, but also plenty of amenities that are going to appeal to kids of that age, such as video games. The cruise ship boasts a two-deck theater that offers your standard cruise ship big-theater fare.
We found the food quite good overall, the service better than expected and even though the cabins were dated, they were comfortable. There are dozens of slots and video games in two sections as well as gaming tables down the center of the casino. What’s a bit mind-boggling is the fact there is only one roulette table in the entire casino and it is clearly the game everyone is interested in playing. It was consistently packed while all other tables were nearly empty. The bar usually doesn’t open until around 4pm, so grab a drink at Champs.
With a wide variety of dining options, your taste buds will always be in for a thrill.
